改編自杜斯妥也夫斯基的《罪與罰》,米榭為了生計成為扒手,第一次行竊失手因故被放過,之後偷竊成為他生活的重心,並且把「扒」的技藝發揮到極致。某天鄰居珍妮告知他的母親生命即將到達盡頭,他請朋友帶錢去給她,自己卻躲在房子裡,不想讓母親知道他的謀生手段。全片猶如一篇誠實的青年自白書,由男主角的第一人稱獨白串連而成,像是一個青年尋求自我的冒險故事。

本片被影評界公認是一部「最當代的影片」,充滿神秘主義的氛圍、不帶戲劇誇張的神情與表演、精準的攝影鏡位跟場景調度,刻畫成純粹的布列松式鏡頭語言。電影結束前男主角詩意的畫外音與極富生命力的鏡頭,堪稱影史最讓人印象深刻的經典畫面之一,點到為止,卻會在觀者心中泛起巨大的漣漪。本片同時直接影響了賈樟柯的《小武》(1998)、保羅.許瑞德的《美國舞男》(1983)。

導演介紹

羅伯.布列松生於1901 年,原是畫家,接觸電影拍攝不久後便放棄繪畫。是法國最重要的導演之一,作品深刻地影響世界各地的青年導演。他的作品量少質精,40 年的創作歷程中,只完成了 13 部長片,但每一部影片都造成世界影壇的一陣騷動。認為導演該尋求的是一種「新的電影狀態」,亦即對舊有電影語法的解構。

Robert BRESSON was a French film director. He left us in 1999. In his book "Notes on Cinematography" (“Les notes sur le Cinématographe”) published in 1975, Robert BRESSON champions cinematography, an art based on writing using sounds and movements. Filming scenes from everyday life with the most precise framing and taking as much care with the sound as the images thanks to a rigorous editing process, BRESSON is still seen as absolute master of the art by filmmakers worldwide.
