Becky de Paramo has had almost as many husbands as gold discs. She abandoned her daughter from her first marriage at thirteen to focus on her career as a pop singer. Rebeca was raised by her father but remains obsessed by her absent mother. She even marries one of Becky's former lovers, Manuel. Now she's the calm, unflappable anchorwoman on the evening news. But when Becky flies in to do a concert in Madrid, their meeting at the airport – the first for fifteen years – is tense and uncomfortable. Becky realized, as Manuel rekindles old flames within her, that her daughter's marriage is on the rocks. But then he is suddenly murdered. With amazing sangfroid, Rebeca announces his death on the TV news and then, astoundingly confesses to the killing. There comes another twist – Becky collapses on stage, finally revealing the illness she has hidden for years. It's the catalyst for all the characters to face their own demons, to discover the truth not just about Manuel's killing, but about themselves.
