學齡前的阿毛與妹妹、好友阿寶無憂無慮地玩耍，三餐過得簡單而快樂。阿毛的爸爸曾隨國民黨來台，因被檢舉入獄，精神失常。媽媽為了維持生計，除了洗衣，還會以身體和肉販交換豬肉。阿毛每次看見媽媽換上碎花洋裝，去肉攤挑肉，他心裡充滿疑惑，直到某天偷窺到肉販車，聽見鄰居揶揄媽媽，他才明白「五花肉」的秘密。從此，阿毛不再吃五花肉，也開始厭惡媽媽的碎花裙。 Young Amao lives a carefree childhood with his sister and best friend, eating sweet potatoes and snails. His father, once imprisoned after being reported, suffers mental instability. Amao's mother exchanges her body for pork to feed the family. When Amao learns the truth, he began to hate his mother's floral dress — and refused to eat his once-favorite pork belly.
